We’re home!
We really had a great trip. I got to see where Chase lived and went to school when he was in Seattle, see his friends who still live there, and the con was a lot of fun. I don’t have any pics from the “real” camera yet, but I’ll post a few from my camera phone.
We got in late Wednesday night, picked up our rental car (which, btw, I love Enterprise) and headed to Kevin’s parents’ house, who very graciously let us stay with them for two nights. They were very sweet, and Kevin’s mom even cooked a great breakfast for us Friday morning.
Thursday morning we headed on out early, and went and ate at a place called 5 Spot, which was near where Chase used to live but he’d never eaten there. There was a Tusken on the wall.
We headed downtown and parked. Walked around the Space Needle (we didn’t go up – so I can add the Space Needle to my list of famous tall structures I’ve been to but never went up in – Eiffel Tower and St Louis Arch are the other two š
We went to Gasworks park, it was really cold and drizzly but the view was neat and I loved the Gasworks.
And we saw the Fremont troll:
Friday we had breakfast and headed out to see the locks. That was pretty neat. Then we headed on to see if we could check into the hotel, and were told by a very brusk women at the front desk that check in was at 4 and we could not check in before that. So we went and had lunch and tried again to see if any rooms had opened up – again, “can’t check in until 4.” (after she checked in the person right before us. Um, ok.) So we checked our bags and headed on to the con to get our badges. We went ahead and shopped for a while, picked up the Adam Hughes’ book “Cover Run” and got him to sign it. š
Got back to the hotel around 3:30 and there was a new person at the front desk – she checked us in with no hesitation, so I don’t know what the first woman’s deal was. I put on Ms Marvel and we headed back and shopped some more, then I changed and we went to dinner at the Ram.
Saturday we walked around town in the morning and got breakfast, then I put on Enchantress. Had issues with the wig and crown – I ended up having to use Ms Marvel wig because the wig I brought just wasn’t working. I’m going to have to come up with something else for next time I wear it. I also think I need to shorten the skirt. But anyway – much bigger crowds saturday. We wandered and went to a panel, then had a quick lunch and back to the hotel to take a break for a while.
I put Ms Marvel back on – we shopped some more, then went and watched some of the masquerade. Then we headed back and I changed, and we went had dinner at a place called Rock Bottom.
Today we just packed up and headed home. Because of the time change, it was an all day affair. Got to the airport around 10AM seattle time, got home at 6PM our time. It was a short trip but really fun.
I’ll post more pics soon š
